I just added a network on the laptop connecting it to a desktop and all hell broke loose on my audio software. Reminds me of the antitrust actions taken against them with their shenanigans concerning RealPlayer. Microsoft really wants to shove this media sharing server and Media Player stuff down your throat at every opportunity. This would waste a few seconds of your previous time, everytime you have to open a media file. I have the exact same problem as she does. Or any bug for that matter.

please don't tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. You would do this to remove associations from other players such as Windows Media Player, for example. But my machine is no longer functional because tweaking the registry.
